About Prayer

"Rejoice evermore, Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

- 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Prayer Tips

Prayer through Jesus Christ is direct access to God the Father.  The death of Jesus Christ on the cross bridged the gap between God and man for all those who believe and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

While on earth Jesus gave very specific instructions on how to pray, including the following:

Pray with a Pure Heart

"And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."

- Mark 11:25

Pray in Faith

"If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

- Matthew 21:22

"If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you."

- John 15:7

What are the Hindrances to Prayer?

  • Undisciplined Thoughts (2 Corinthians 10:45)

  • Asking Amiss (James 4:1-3)

  • Unforgiveness (Matthew 5:7,23,24)

  • Pride (Psalm 138:6)

  • Unbelief (James 1:5-7)

  • Improper Relationships (1 Peter 3:17)

1. Find a quiet place where you can avoid interruptions.

2. Pray at the same time each day whenever possible.

3. Make a prayer journal.

  • Write down what the Lord has placed on your heart during your prayer time. Also, write down if you have seen an answer to your prayer, no matter how big or small.

4. Use your gifts in prayer.

  • If you sing, sing your worship

  • If you draw, draw your prayer

  • If you write, write your prayer. etc.

  • Remember, prayer is a part of a relationship with God that should be vibrant, passionate, and growing, not a mundane religious task.
